Six households in Ames Street have pledged to Buy Nothing New Month during October. This is a one month challenge to buy nothing new with the exception of essentials like food, hygiene products and medicines.
The idea isn’t to Buy Nothing New ever nor is it about going without. It’s about taking one month off to really think, “Do I really need it?” If you do ask, “can I get it second-hand, borrow it, rent it, barter for it, swap with a friend?”
We are consuming our natural resources faster than our Earth can replenish them. Buy Nothing New Month is about preserving our resources, so there will be some left for our kids, and hopefully their kids and their kids and so on.
Who wants to join us?
